SOUND LIBERATION

Sound Liberation is an eclectic New York-based chamber ensemble/band. Formed in 1996, Sound Lib has established itself as one of New York's premiere experimental/new music groups performing to critical success at such notable venues as the Wetlands, the Knitting Factory, Downtime, the New Music cafe, and the Cutting Room, among others.

Sound Liberation's musical philosophy, developed by the band’s founder, Gene Pritsker, aims to "end the segregation of sound vibration" (or musical genres). With this as its inspiration, the group performs original music that encompasses diverse musical styles grounded in hip-hop and rock rhythms.

Recent projects include the world premiere of their hip-hop opera, "Money 1" & "Money 2" in New York as well as subsequent performances at the Outreach Festival in Schwaz, Austria during the summer of ‘07. Upcoming engagements of "Money" include performances in Milan and Catania, Italy in May of ‘08. Past projects include performances at the Peekaboo Festival of New Music and Theater and a tour of Newfoundland, Canada.

Sound Liberation's second album is due out in 2008 on Col Legno Records and their first album is currently available on iTunes.
